Welcome to the VISP HIV Testing Service
HIV-1 vaccine trial participants can test HIV-1 vaccine-induced seropositive (VISP) or Vaccine-Induced Seroreactive (VISR) even if they are not infected with HIV-1. A standard HIV antibody-based test could provide positive results in your patient for several years, even though they are not infected with HIV-1.
An HIV-1 nucleic acid test (NAT) (which includes RNA, DNA, or total nucleic acid (TNA) test) can distinguish a true HIV-1 infection from VISP. These tests are the most accurate form of testing as they detect the actual virus, however, these types of tests may not be routinely offered in all countries.
Janssen has collaborated with Parexel to develop this VISP HIV-1 Testing Service. This service will be provided at no cost to the patient or you. Reimbursement for the additional work required to support this service is available, for you as healthcare provider.
